Preparing students for today, tomorrow and eternity

Friday Blue Notes

January 8, 2010

SCHOOL CLOSINGS AND DELAYS Just so we are clear; we will do whatever Harford County Public Schools do. However, there may be times when that will not work. For instance, when we have a half day and the county has a full day. If they have a delay, we will not have school at all, not just a delay. Or if they do not have school and we do, our announcement will have to stand alone. We use WBAL radio for our announcements but they do not always put them on the air. We will use your email as much as possible as a back up.

H1N1 To find out about times and procedures of future clinics, go to www.harfordcountyhealth.com. Appointments fill up fast so call as soon as you see the notification go up.

Field Trip and Long Weekend Friday, January 15th will be a 12:30 dismissal, with a field trip in the morning. (See attached Permission Slip.) Monday the 18th school will be closed for Martin Luther King Day.

Future Events It has been decided to have our next open house on January 31st. This is the off Sunday between the last NFL playoff games on the 24th and the Super Bowl game on February 7th. Hopefully we will see lots of new people to whom we can minister.

Campbell’s Labels for Education We had a UPC point balance of 5,746 from prior submissions. The teachers shopped the catalogue, and we cashed in on some of these points by purchasing paint for art and 2 headphones for the students. After this purchase, a submission was made adding another 1,880 points to our balance bringing our current total to 4,676. These labels can be collected all year round, so please keep sending them in!

Giant A+ Bonus Bucks The program runs until March, 2010. Bonus Cards can continue to be registered throughout the program time frame by going online to www.giantfood.com/aplus. The total amount earned for our school to date is $226.91.

Box Tops for Education We have earned a total of $235.10 from all of the Box Tops submitted to date, and have received a portion of this money in the program’s December check disbursement. Our goal this year was set at $500, so we are almost halfway there! The last submission for the 2009-2010 school year is February 28th, (this year, they have changed it to March 1, 2010 because the 28th falls on a Sunday.) The amounts accumulated up through this deadline will be processed with the program’s April check disbursement. You can continue to send in Box Tops all year long. They will still be submitted; however, any submissions made after February (March 1) will be banked for the 2010-2011 school year disbursements.

Target Take Charge for Education We have accumulated $37.76 to date in this account. The school and congregation’s support in these programs have been great! Our account balances continue to add up-- Thank you!!
