Friday Blue Notes
January 15, 2010
No School Monday January 18th Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT This is mainly for the parents of the fourth graders but ultimately affects all of our families. At the council meeting and school board meeting we were given the green light to offer a fifth grade class next year. We are planning a stand alone kindergarten classroom and a stand alone first grade classroom. There will be a combination classroom of second and third grades and a combination classroom of fourth and fifth grades. That will mean an equivalency of four full time teachers. We pray that this meets everyone’s needs and will facilitate the continuation of the quality education we offer at Advent.
SCHOOL CLOSINGS AND DELAYS I hope we won’t need this for the rest of the year, but just in case, here it is again. We will do whatever Harford County Public Schools do. However, there may be times when that will not work. For instance, when we have a half day and the county has a full day. If they have a delay, we will not have school at all, not just a delay. Or if they do not have school and we do, our announcement will have to stand alone. We use WBAL radio for our announcements but they do not always put them on the air. We will use your email as much as possible as a back up.
H1N1 To find out about times and procedures of future clinics, go to www.harfordcountyhealth.com. Appointments fill up fast so call as soon as you see the notification go up.
SCIENCE DISPLAY On January 28th the students will have a science demonstration on the ecology of our earth. They will be working with worms and soil as we understand it. The presenters have asked for adult supervision in addition to the teachers. We will need a few parents to volunteer to help out and keep things moving. Look for details in future “Blue Notes.”
FUTURE EVENTS It has been decided to have our next open house on January 31st. This is the off Sunday between the last NFL playoff games on the 24th and the Super Bowl game on February 7th. Hopefully we will see lots of new people to whom we can minister.
CAMPBELL’S LABELS FOR EDUCTION & BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION Keep up the good work!
