Special Event
Holy Week Pilgrimage - Advent Lutheran School Beginning at 9:00 a.m., April 1, 2010
In order to help our students learn about and understand the significance of the events during the last week of Jesus' life, His death and His resurrection, we are planning a pilgrimage.
This journey will take place on Thursday morning, April 1, at 9:00 a.m. The students and their teachers will gather together in the hallway near the school entrance for an introduction and then move from place to place in the church and school facility. At the various stops, there will be devotions, teaching and activities that will depict and explain the events that took place during Holy Week.
New Teacher Lineup - the School Board last Thursday decided to add Mrs. Bickel to the faculty for next year. The new lineup will be as follows: Kindergarten – Mrs. Schrader, First grade – Mrs. Thierer, Second and Third grades – Mrs. Aniunas, and Fourth and Fifth grades – Mrs. Bickel.
New Website - The news site is getting lots of hits and the information it provides is amazing. Pray it reaches those who need to hear about Jesus.
New Mission Project - We are beginning to take collections in chapel for a school that is being built in Liberia, 90 miles from Monrovia. It will cost $10,000 to complete the school so over 150 students will have a place to be educated and also learn about Jesus and His forgiving love. We are joining with all the other Lutheran schools in Maryland to make this school a reality.
Standardized Testing - We are in the midst of the process and will finish up early next week – just in time for Easter break.
Easter Break - From April 1st at 12:30 P.M. dismissal through April 11th. Class resumes Monday morning at 8:00A.M. April 12th.
No PTL on April 7th.
For Future Planning
We have been discussing the end of the year field trip. Two options are emerging as real possibilities. Please let us know soon if you have a preference because final arrangements need to be made soon.
Option A) Washington, D.C. Air and Space Museum and one other attraction to be determined.
Option B) Baltimore, Port Discovery, Fort McHenry for Lunch, and I-Max Theater.
If you have a preference, please email it to pastor@adventluth.com with some reasons for your choice.
Please send school pictures to Ed Bowen to include on the new web site. Not all can be used and the resolution should be of a substantial quality to be properly shown on the computer. If they are not used for the web page they might be used for the end of year video. His email address is edkitb@comcast.net .
There will be no hot lunch - on April first since it is a half day. Envelopes will be sent home next week for April 15th.
Hearing and Vision Testing - please see sheets attached to take-home version of blue notes and follow instructions.
