Preparing students for today, tomorrow and eternity

Friday Blue Notes

May 7, 2010

Field Day - Fun Day  - On Friday May 14th at 9:15, the children and drivers will go to "Jump On It" across the street.  After jumping and lunch, we will return to school at 11:30 to watch a movie together until 2:00.  Then there will be a one hour "Punch and Judy Show" presentation.  School will dismiss following the normal schedule.  Sign and return the permission slip attached to the hard copy blue notes sent home in your child's backpack.

Flea Market  - Reserve the date - June 5th. The committee decided that it will be held rain or shine.  In case of rain it will move indoors, using the hallways and classrooms for the vendors and the sanctuary for the food and music.  You may want to rent a table yourself and get some cash for the stuff you haven't used for years.  I hope you will be able to donate some time and energy to make this a real success.  Be sure to tell everyone you know about our plans for the day so lots of people attend and have a good time.  Pray for good weather.

End of Year Field Trip - June 2nd is now the locked-in date.  We have reserved a 55-passenger bus and made reservations at Port Discovery from 10:00 to Noon.  We are still waiting to see what will be showing at the I-Max.  They tell us it is Disney's fault because they won't commit to a date.  Students and their parents or parents' substitutes are all invited.  Other guests are welcome as room on the bus permits - first come, first served.  Students are paid for through their activity fee.  Adults and other guests are $25.00 for Port Discovery, the I-Max and for the bus.  Time of the show at I-Max seems to indicate we will have to eat lunch on Federal Hill, overlooking the Inner Harbor so we can walk to the I-Max in time for the movie.  If it is later than they are indicating now, we may still fit in Ft. McHenry.  Deadline for reservations and payment for the day is May 20th.

Mission Project - Our collections in chapel are for a school that is being built in Liberia, 90 miles from Monrovia.  It will cost $10,000 to complete the school.  This will make it possible for over 150 students to have a place to be educated and also learn about Jesus and His forgiving love.  We are joining with all the other Lutheran schools in Maryland to make this school a reality.
